Timmy Cooper is the name of a pitbull pup who was among more than 350 dogs rescued in one of the largest dog fighting busts made in the U.S. At that time, he was merely eight weeks old, most likely the youngest canine ever saved from a dog fighting ring.
The authorities asked for the assistance of the country’s largest animal rescue organization as numerous dogs needed help. They required experienced rescuers to ensure that the canines received proper treatment during and after the operation.
Poor conditions
The rescue team was shocked when they saw how the dogs lived. Many of them were tethered to heavy chains, including Timmy. He looked so helpless as the thick metal chain dragged down his neck.
All of the dogs showed signs of neglect and abuse. Many of them had their ribs sticking out of their skin. Some even had scars showing evidence of their injuries sustained during dog fights or training. Unfortunately, there were also a large number of pit bulls that were dead.
Timmy would have been subjected to such a violent life if he had not been saved.
Poster pup
Because there were numerous dogs rescued, they were brought to separate facilities. Timmy was taken to a shelter in Maryland. Maybe because he was just a pup then, he quickly opened up to the humans taking care of her. He had such an amazing character that he was made the poster pup of a rescue organization’s campaign against animal abuse.
Nine months after the raid, the case was finally closed after the suspects pleaded guilty. The dogs were now clear for adoption. Timmy went to a teacher’s home in Washington, D.C. Her family had just lost their two dogs and were more than happy to welcome the sweet pooch to their house.
