When we have spent years with our dogs, it’s only natural that they would feel very lonely once we have to leave. And that was exactly the feeling of one Golden Retriever named Hadley after her mom Maddy and her other playmates, Maddy’s sisters, went away for college. But to make up for her absence, Maddy prepared the best holiday present for Hadley.
Maddy documented the whole thing, from giving the present to Hadley to the unboxing and of course Hadley’s reaction to her gift. And after she uploaded the video on TikTok, the clip immediately went viral and has since earned over 4.5 million likes and shared over 130,000 times.
In the now-viral video, Maddy explained how lonely Hadley has been since they all left for college so they decided to give her a very memorable present. She then laid the box down under the Christmas tree and at first, Hadley wasn’t interested and seemed to just want to play with her mom. But as soon as Maddy opened the box, Hadley started to take an interest.
Inside the box was a pup who Maddy hoped to be Hadley’s sister and playmate.
When Hadley first saw Oakley, the pup, she clearly didn’t know what to make of her. Hadley then started sniffing her around as if inspecting the new member of the family. After the initial inspection, Maddy finally lifted Oakley out of the box and onto the floor. That was the moment that Hadley actually understood the situation and became really excited, wagging her tail and going back and forth inviting the pup to play.
Hadley was definitely excited to have a new playmate. And it didn’t take so much time for Hadley and Oakley to become best friends. Hopefully, we’ll see more of their growing loving friendship and sisterhood.
