Lizzy, a homeowner from L.A., and her sister reported seeing a Chihuahua outside their yard. Worried about the dog’s safety, they asked for immediate help. They reached out to the local animal rescue group, Hope For Paws, and two of the lead rescuers, Eldad and Loreta, responded.
When the rescuers arrived in Lizzy’s neighborhood, Eldad immediately spotted the dog in front of her yard. Worried that the dog might run into oncoming traffic, he asked Loreta to start building trust with it by offering it some food. The rescuers then walked away from the dog to avoid scaring it and keep it from bolting.
Lizzy stepped out of her house when she heard the rescuers arrive. She wanted to be of help and let Eldad lure the dog into her home so it’d be easier to catch it. With Loreta’s help, they coaxed the Chihuahua to go through the front door.
With the dog secured in Lizzy’s home, the rescuers finally had the opportunity to take their time. They didn’t want to stress the animal further, so they patiently waited for the best chance to catch it. Moments later, Loreta expertly looped the Chihuahua in with a Lucky Leash.
The rescuers placed the dog in a crate and thanked Lizzy for her help. Then, they drove to the vet’s office to have the Chihuahua checked. On the way there, they named their newest rescue dog, Sunny.
The vets confirmed that Sunny was in relatively good health. Afterward, Loreta gave the dog a well-deserved bath to get its new life off to a fresh start.
Sunny moved to LA Animal Rescue for foster care. She had a good time with her foster family and she stayed with them until she found her perfect match. Today, Sunny is happy and safe in her forever home.
