In 2017, a ten-year-old dog named Snupi from Poland went on an adventure that most people can only dream of. With his owners, Izabella and Piotr Miklaszewski, he visited more than 25 countries on four continents for 15 months, uninterrupted. He went to Bolivia, Morocco, Peru, Brazil, Europe, and Cape Verde Islands, to name a few.
According to Izabella and Piotr, before their trip in 2017, Snupi was not a newbie in traveling. He already visited Turkey, Armenia, and Germany on a hitchhiking trip in 2014. He also went on holiday visits to the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. These previous travels helped prepare him for their long journey to see the world.
What made their trip more interesting is that they only travel by hitchhiking. Snupi has never been on an airplane. Instead, he crossed more than 3,000 nautical miles in the Atlantic, hitchhiking a boat. Their land travels were mostly hitchhiking too.
Snupi and his fur parents slept in tents or a hammock most days during their trip. But they would also go to hotels every three or four days to get more rest and freshen up. They also visited bazaars, art galleries, and different tourist spots.
Snupi, the adventurer
The well-traveled Snupi loves adventure. He climbed Toubkal, the highest peak in Morocco, 4,167 meters, and conquered Imbabura in Ecuador, 4,630 meters. Snupi also rode a camel in the Sahara desert, traveled almost the entire Amazon River, and swam in the lakes and ocean in Cape Verde.
Izabella and Piotr rescued Snupi when he was only three years old. He lived in a shelter cage with limited space and restricted movements. The once shelter-caged pup roamed worldwide with limitless boundaries and endless beautiful scenes to see seven years later. Snupi’s story can help remind us that good things will come at the right time, so we should never lose hope.
