During hot and sunny days, dogs find a way to keep themselves cool and refreshed. Some go to the beach with their owners while other pooches are just content swimming in the backyard pool. But one Labrador Retriever puppy has a unique way of cooling herself.
Take a look at the said pup’s smart strategy.
Into the fridge
In one funny video shared on TikTok, you can see a Labrador Retriever puppy named Cocoa making her way to a cool spot in the house: the refrigerator. Because the appliance’s door is open for a long time, the adorable pup decides to crawl into the fridge’s bottom part that’s meant for the drawer.
Cocoa’s mom reminds her that she is not supposed to be inside the fridge. But instead of getting out, the dog just flashes those cute puppy eyes, ignoring her mom.
Currently, Cocoa’s video has more than one million views and 280K likes. It also has over 2K shares and around 200 comments.
One commenter jokingly suggests that the owner should buy Cocoa a mini fridge from Craigslist. A second TikTok user says that Cocoa is a smart puppy.
Ways to keep your dog cool
Of course, letting your dog cool itself down inside a refrigerator is not a wise idea. Thankfully, there are some methods that you can use to help your dog beat the summer heat.
For one, you can use cooling pads. These can aid in regulating your pooch’s body temperature and even help it sleep better.
You may also let your pooch swim in your pool. If you don’t have a pool, a basin or tub filled with cool water may do.
Regular grooming also reduces the insulation around your dog’s body, thus keeping your pet cool. The groomer knows what’s best for your dog and its coat.
Driving somewhere with your dog? Never ever leave it inside your car.
Above all, you must make sure that your pet’s water bowl is always full.
