In Austin, Texas, a pit bull named Bluebelle had been abandoned in an empty parking lot. There, she waited patiently for help. The senior dog had nothing except her dog bed to serve as a barrier against the hot pavement.
When animal protection officers finally arrived to rescue her, Bluebelle looked up to them with sweet, sad eyes. She was grateful for the help and for the treats they had given her.
According to the volunteer and marketing coordinator of the shelter that took in Bluebell, Stephanie McCutcheon, they could tell how thankful the pit bull was to her rescuers. Upon her arrival at the animal shelter, the senior dog drank lots of water and slept in an air-conditioned room the first few days.
Bluebelle, presumed to be approximately nine years old, is currently receiving all the care she needs, including treatment for her skin condition and conjunctivitis.
McCutcheon said that Bluebell is happy and cheerful despite her health issues and what she has experienced. The pooch has the cutest smile and a little pep in her steps. Luckily for Bluebell, the shelter has excellent vets and staff who are taking care of her.
The staff at the shelter knew that the senior pit bull would be a lot more comfortable in a home. Fortunately, they immediately found a foster family for her.
Despite not being in her best shape, Bluebell is welcoming of humans. And recently, she had met her foster family, along with their dog. The meet-and-greet went well; thus, Bluebelle will be staying with her foster family soon.
Once Bluebell completely recovers from her health issues, she will begin searching for a forever family. But until then, she is just thrilled to live in a home and have a comfortable place where she can rest and relax.
