A man named Lee Asher gave up his job with a six-figure salary to live in a van with his rescue dogs. He continues to foster rescue dogs and gives them loving forever homes. Some of the dogs that Lee fosters even end up as foster fails and become part of Lee’s pack.
A dog named Lucy was rescued from a puppy mill. After being bred numerous times, she was abandoned by her owners. Lucy was depressed and was terrified of humans that she was constantly trying to hide and get away from whoever tried approaching her. Her depression caused her to give up on life, which is truly heartbreaking.
Lucy’s rescuers didn’t know how to help her recover from her traumatic past. They decided to contact Lee and see if he could find a way to bring life and love back into her life. Although Lee tries to be positive about every dog he fosters, Lucy’s story and how she acted when she met him were upsetting.
Lee was overcome with emotion as he drove Lucy back to his home. He knows that Lucy’s been through so much pain in her life. She was so terrified that she refused to look Lee in the eye. Lucy didn’t even want to eat the food that Lee had prepared for her. He had to hand feed Lucy by hand to encourage her to eat.
During Lucy’s first night in Lee’s home, Lee decided to sleep beside her on the floor. However, when Lee woke up, he found Lucy laying down next to some of his gym equipment. She decided to sleep somewhere else since she found it uncomfortable sleeping beside a human. However, everything changed when Lee introduced Lucy to his dogs.
As soon as Lucy met Lee’s dogs, Lucy started to feel more at ease. Lee’s dogs were so enthusiastic about welcoming Lucy into their pack. She felt the love coming from Lee’s dogs. It took Lucy a few more days to fully adjust to her new home, but she improved every day. Thanks to Lee and his dogs, Lucy found a new reason to live.
The love she felt in Lee’s home made her so happy. She started smiling and even wagging her tail again. Her playful personality also started to come out whenever she joins Lee and his dogs on hiking trips. Here’s a video featuring Lucy’s story and how Lee and his dogs helped her to love life again.
