Hope for Paws animal rescue organization based in Los Angeles, California received an email about an older dog that lived all alone on a vacant property. Joann Wiltz and Katie McKittrick, two of the rescuers, headed out to the address of the abandoned home right away.
Terrible news
When the rescuers had arrived at the destination, they were informed by the neighbors that the owner of the dog and the abandoned house had passed away eleven months ago. The dog inside the yard was too afraid of people to get close, so she was left outside to guard the house.
The new owner of the property requested to have the dog removed before they could sell the building. The rescuers mentioned that owners could and should’ve had included their pets in their Will or Living Trust so they could’ve had ensured that their pets had a loving home to stay at.
When they had arrived at the house, they immediately noticed that the dog was too scared of people to get near to them. They decided to hide for an hour before the dog felt comfortable enough to enter the cage trap.
Believe in Magic
The dog eventually went into the cage trap and when she was already inside, the rescuers decided to name her Magic. They had to take things slow in order for them to have gained her trust, she eventually warmed up to the rescuers and allowed them to put a leash around her. It was obvious to them that Magic hadn’t felt any affection and care for a long time.
It was then that they took her to the CARES clinic to get a bath and checked for any health problems. Even though she had been living alone for the past year, Magic didn’t have any major health issues.
