A Bloodhound named Bentley began his life with many troubles and pain. His difficult past resulted in the large dog having trust and aggression issues. When he was taken to a shelter, the staff labeled him a problem dog.
Despite his issues, he was adopted by someone. Unfortunately, Bentley was returned to the shelter several days after moving to his new home. This happened to him three more times because of the same reasons. The shelter staff felt terrible for him, and they thought he would never find a family who would keep him forever.
Fifth home
Bentley’s fortune changed thanks to a woman named KaTarra Taylor. She is a very patient woman who lives in Colorado Springs and works as a compliance auditor for a software company.
KaTarra believes that Bentley’s issues could still be removed if he is shown the love and attention he deserves. Living in a shelter doesn’t give him that opportunity. She knows he is not a bad dog, and it will take some patience and lots of hugs to gain his trust. And that’s what she did.
The new dog owner worked tirelessly to train the large pooch and remove his anxiety. She also had his health issues treated. Soon after, Bentley’s aggression went away.
A good life
KaTarra and her boyfriend lived in a 0ne-bedroom apartment with little space for the large dog to move around and play. He had all this unspent energy, and it was contributing to his aggression. So they moved out and bought a townhouse with a small concrete yard.
Over their first weekend in their new place, they prepared a special area for her. They removed the concrete flooring and placed grass over the soil. Bentley loved it. He spent hours just happily lying down on it.
All their hard work paid off. Bentley is now a loving dog who has learned what it is to be a part of a family.
