Mandy Yates, an artist who specializes in working with glass and concrete, was doing commissioned work in a house in Texas. On her way to start her day, she noticed a sad-looking dog chained to a tree. Being a dog owner herself, she felt sad to see the state the pooch was in. The kind lady told her husband about the dog and how sorry she felt for the canine.
Later in the day, her husband came to the neighborhood to pick her up. While waiting for her to come out, he talked to one of the neighbors about the dog Mandy told him about. He was shocked by what he heard.
Neglected
Apparently, the dog had been tied up for more than five years and had never left the yard. His owners rarely fed him or showed any affection towards the poor pooch. The very next day, the couple bravely knocked on the dog owner’s house and talked to them. Fortunately, they agreed to surrender their neglected pet to Mandy and her husband.
When they got the dog off the tree, he was so excited to walk around. He even led the way to their truck. On the way home, the canine, now named Hooch, looked very happy. But when they got inside the house, he showed signs of fear. Everything was all new to him.
Mandy decided to keep him in their office room and not let him meet their other dogs yet.
Perfect fit
Mandy took Hooch to the vet, and they discovered he had a severe case of heartworm. The treatment was costly, so she went online to get help. After posting a video of the rescue dog’s story, money started coming in. They were able to raise the funds to get her treated.
Thankfully, she responded well and started to get better.
One day, Hooch accidentally got out of their office and met one of their dogs. Mandy was worried they might show aggression. Luckily, what happened was the opposite. Hooch was friendly to her other canine pets, and everyone got along well. Since then, they decided to adopt him formally.
