If you’ve ever wondered what show dogs do to always look good, then this story will give you a quick glimpse of what it’s like. This senior Shetland Sheepdog named Shelby gave us a special peek.
Shelby’s retired now, but according to her groomer, she still looks every bit of the show dog she once was.
We couldn’t agree more as Shelby simply shone, and her features were highlighted after a session at the pet salon.
According to the dog’s lady groomer, Shelby regularly visits them every eight weeks.
Shelby usually gets started with a dirty dog shampoo, and then she gets conditioned. The groomer would then spray her with a water-vinegar mixture.
We’re not sure what it’s for, but we’re thinking it’s to discourage any pesky parasites. These sessions make sure that dogs look great and are also well-protected from ticks and fleas.
This Sheltie then got blow-dried with a high-velocity dryer. Through it all, Shelby stayed put, knowing that she would come out squeaky clean and looking good.
Then the groomer sprayed the former show dog with a special concoction. It’s a sort of conditioner for dogs that prepare their hair for all the brushing to follow.
Shelby then got brushed twice and then trimmed, and after a couple more spritzing, she looked ready to take her place by the fireplace during Christmas.
That’s a lot of prep to go through, but this doggo’s already a veteran in grooming sessions. Years of being a show dog required it, so Shelby mastered it well.
This Sheltie looked every bit of her former self, and we could say that once you’re a show dog, you’ll always be one.
Thank you, lady groomer, for maintaining our Shelby’s show dog looks. We hope she gets to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life without dropping her glam one.
