Authorities in New Hampshire raided a suspected puppy mill, which one officer described as the worst he’d ever seen. According to law enforcement officials, they rescued a total of 84 Great Danes.
After rescuing dogs from cages on Friday, police, animal control officers, and Humane Society of the United States workers charged the owner, Christina Fay, 60, with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.
They apprehended a large number of people walking around Fay’s filthy eight-bedroom Wolfeboro mansion. According to officials, splattered dog waste was all over the building. The outline of some dogs’ bones poked through their fur, owing to insufficient feeding.
Others, on the other hand, have serious bacterial and eye infections. The case amounted to detestable actions against animals for profit. Chief Dean Rondeau of the Wolfeboro Police Department said he’d never seen anything like this in his 21 years in law enforcement.
He stated that there are no words to describe the heinous conditions these animals have gone through. A member of the Conway Humane Society’s staff also described the situation as upsetting. They even express their sympathy for the dogs.
The matter was brought to the attention of the investigators by concerned citizens. The officers commended them for coming forward. Pups and senior dogs were among the rescued dogs.
They also believe that many of the adult animals are pregnant. According to police, Fay sells puppies for $2,500 each at De La Sang Monde kennel. Her website featured photographs of dogs posing outside an ostensibly luxurious home.
They place the animals in a makeshift emergency shelter. On Facebook, the police department revealed that nine dogs would be available for adoption soon. The authorities shared that the case is still under investigation, and further arrests could be made.
