A mother dog that does not care about her puppies is a subject of great concern. Often, an animal behavior expert has to get involved in identifying the cause of such behavior. Furthermore, dog owners with this kind of pet are often surprised when they discover the cause.
Woong is a large fluffy dog whose relationship with her puppies is non-existent. She ignores the puppies in the same way that she is ignored by the father of said puppies. Overall, there is no familial bond between the dogs living in this particular household.
The situation got worse when Woong became enamored with a stray dog. Since her partner was not paying attention to her, she sought companionship elsewhere. Eventually, the father of the puppies found out and began attacking the stray out of jealousy.
At one point, the owners could no longer handle the chaos, so they consulted a veterinarian. The vet examined Woong and discovered that the dog was suffering from postpartum depression. This diagnosis made it clear why Woong was acting questionably.
Woong was subjected to the smell of oils that balanced her estrogen levels. She was also given other mixed oils that helped in easing her depression. Aside from those, Woong was given an extensive full-body massage by her owners.
After the initial treatment, Woong started paying more attention to her puppies. She began giving them what they needed and nursing them. She also established a more amicable relationship with the father of the puppies.
The owners were grateful to the veterinarian for helping solve Woong’s issues. After learning to address the problem, the owners promised to consistently be mindful of Woong’s stress levels. Furthermore, they are hopeful that Woong and her puppies can live a long peaceful life with them.
