Kida is a blind Great Pyrenees mix who lives with her mom in Texas. Although Kida is not able to see, she can still visualize her favorite place in the world: the dog park. So even after losing her eyesight last year, she still looks forward to her trips to her happy place.
Blind dog
Kida lost both her eyes last year due to an autoimmune disease. She suffered from her condition so much so the doctors suggested taking her eyes out altogether. According to her mom, Allison Miller, Kida seemed to feel so much relief after the surgery.
Allison says Kida’s personality did not change even after she went blind. She’s still active, playful, and barks a lot. But because Kida can no longer see, Allison had to make some changes to help Kida cope with her new life. For instance, they would bring collars with bells for Kida’s doggie friends to wear when they play. That way, Kida can hear where her playmates are.
Kida’s happy place
And speaking of playtime, Kida has the best place in mind: the dog park.
Kida loves the dog park so much. It’s a place that consistently makes her happy. She has regular playdates with her four other doggie best friends at the park, so Allison tries to bring Kida over as often as possible. Thankfully, Kida knows the park’s layout by heart, so she’s able to play with them like any other dog.
One day, Allison decided to film Kida’s reaction while they were going to the dog park. When the car turned towards the park, Kida started wagging her tail enthusiastically. Allison brought the window down so Kida could soak in the sun and the breeze. Obviously, Kida knows that they’re about to go to her happy place.
Allison posted the video on TikTok to share what Kida has been up to lately. But to her surprise, the video got millions of views! Allison received a lot of comments and questions regarding Kida’s condition and she’s happy to respond to them. Allison wants to show everyone that dogs with disabilities can still enjoy a happy, fulfilling life.
Kida’s positive outlook is surely inspiring. We can’t wait for Kida to take on more adventures and see her enjoy life to the fullest.
