There’s a myriad of reasons why we take pictures of things around us. Some do it to preserve a fragment of a second and to give them something to remember the moment by. Others take snaps so they can share the story to those who might be interested in what they have to say. Then, there are those who click the shutter to raise awareness and, in some cases, save lives.
The third reason was probably what was going on in the head of the person who took Keira and Kaila’s picture in 2015. The canine pals had been living at Etowah County Human Society for quite some time then. They were hours away from being euthanized on the day that their photo was taken.
Etowah County Humane Society is a kill shelter. As much as the staff wanted to let the two pups live, they had no choice but to put them down. The reason behind this being, the pups already over-extended their stay. Not a single soul was interested in adopting them.
One more chance
A concerned staff, aka Keira and Kaila’s photographer, wanted to give them a fighting chance by taking their photo and posting it online. The staff added a caption explaining what was about to happen to them. The photo immediately made rounds online and reached Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.
The rescue shared the photo of the two pups on their social media accounts so their contacts would see it. Two hours after posting, a kindhearted man reached out to them and volunteered to foster the pups. Since he couldn’t afford to adopt them, Keira and Kaila weren’t out of the woods yet.
Match made in paw-ven
The canine pals stayed with their foster dad for a good three months. During their stay there, they were adopted by best friends Wendy Newman and Pam Cody. People who have been following their story were pleased when they learned about the wonderful news. It was, indeed, a match made in paw-ven!
