Dogs, like humans, aren’t immune to aging. When they get old, they also suffer from age-related illnesses. They also suffer from arthritis, have less energy, and even lose their eyesight.
When an 8-year-old Labrador mix named Terfel was diagnosed with cataracts, he became afraid of going outdoors. He kept bumping into things and decided not to get far away from his dog bed. Terfel became depressed and his owner, Judy Godfrey-Brown, saw just how much Terfel wanted to do things but can’t because of his deteriorating sight.
Judy wanted Terfel to become himself again and she wanted Terfel to enjoy the last remaining years of his life. She didn’t know how but something happened that was so unexpected that changed Terfel’s life.
Judy happened to see a stray cat, who she named Pwditat, wandering the streets where she lived. She decided to let Pwditat in her house. What she didn’t expect was for the cat to become best friends with her dog. We all expect dogs and cats to hate each other.
However, Pwditat wasn’t even intimidated when he met Terfel. He understood that Terfel’s blind and truly wanted to help. Terfel was also grateful for meeting Pwditat that he was full of life again. Thanks to his new best friend, Terfel gained his confidence back and wanted to play like a puppy again.
Pwditat became Terfel’s seeing-eye-cat and the two animals became inseparable. Thanks to him, Terfel wanted to be outdoors to play again. He has Pwditat to guide him around the house and garden, which he absolutely loved.
Whenever Terfel is about to bump into something, Pwditat warns him by using his paws. Who knew that a cat and a blind dog would get along? They even sleep together in one bed and Pwditat would always watch out for Terfel. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring Terfel’s story and how meeting a stray cat changed his life.
