On the streets of South Africa, a seven-week-old stray puppy named Gunnar was left to fend for himself. About a week passed before a passerby spotted him and contacted the local animal sanctuary, Sidewalk Specials, to get the dog the help that it needed.
The call regarding Gunnar was received by Rachael Sylvester, the owner of Sidewalk Specials. She hurriedly packed some goodies and a leash for the dog before leaving.
As soon as Rachael arrived at the location, she observed the small puppy’s tail wagging as though he knew he was being rescued from the life that he was living. Before affixing a leash to Gunnar’s neck, Rachael fed the puppy a piece of bread, which he gobbled promptly.
Rachael brought Gunnar to an animal clinic, where a veterinarian performed a thorough physical examination on the puppy. After administering medication to Gunnar, the veterinarian urged her to keep him overnight in the clinic.
Fortunately, Gunnar was cleared the next day to leave the facility and return home with his new foster family. Gunnar was timid when he first came to his new home, but fortunately, there were other dogs to keep him company.
It didn’t take long for Gunnar to become a more self-assured and lively dog. His foster parents documented his development and uploaded the footage to various social media platforms, attracting the attention of dozens of dog enthusiasts.
Freya, a dog-lover from Cape Town, saw the post about Gunnar and fell in love immediately. She immediately submitted an adoption application for Gunnar, which was approved the following day.
Freya was thrilled that Gunnar is in her life. Freya’s mood brightens anytime she is unhappy due to Gunnar’s vivacious character.
Freya and Gunnar eventually become inseparable. Together, they went on innumerable adventures and simply enjoyed their time together.
