Children and dogs are among the most precious creatures in the world. They share a similarity: their total innocence about things and the world. In addition to this, a dog and a child can build a positive relationship with each other that is just so pure and beautiful.
This story is not new to Lewis Millar. Recently, the 10-year-old child got a dog from Assistance Dogs Northern Ireland (ADNI), a charity that trains dogs to become service dogs. The boy composed a persuasive and heartfelt letter to the charity, which resulted in him receiving a dog that he swore to cherish for the rest of his life.
Lewis is autistic, but he has so much positivity and love in him. However, even if he continues to be optimistic about things, he still experiences daily challenges, just like every child out there.
Lewis’ mother, Danielle Cooper, had the idea to get the boy a service dog. She believes that a dog would enhance her son’s quality of life.
Danielle persuaded Lewis to submit a letter to the center. She hopes that the letter will help the assessors of the organization in granting their request for a specific dog that would fit Lewis’s profile.
The young boy described his situation in the letter. He stated that he struggles to regulate his emotions. In addition to this, Lewis has difficulty reading people’s reactions. He also has been perceived as a harsh child by some children his age.
Lewis stated that a dog from ADNI would assist him with his difficulties since he feels they are trained to deal with youngsters with his condition. The boy had no idea that this wonderful explanation would result in him getting a dog in time for the holidays.
The family named the puppy Jade upon its arrival at their residence. Lewis was so happy that his request was granted.
Lewis’ parents praised the evaluators for their positive response to their son’s letter.
