Consuming dog meat is still being practiced in some parts of Asia. The consumption of dog meat is often done for cultural reasons rather than not having any other choices for meat. In some parts of China, people are still consuming dog meat but some people are putting a stop to this horrific practice by educating people and closing down slaughterhouses.
A French Bulldog named Pearl was recently rescued from a truck that was on its way to the slaughterhouse. When the animal rescue volunteers from Slaughterhouse Survivors found Pearl, she was in a terrible condition. Aside from being emaciated and dehydrated, she was also missing one of her legs.
Pearl’s rescuers didn’t even think that she would survive. However, they still gave her a chance since she was still fighting to live. With professional medical care and lots of TLC, Pearl’s condition started to improve. To the surprise of her rescuers, Pearl was well on her way to recovery.
Even with a missing leg, Pearl adjusted to her new life. It took Pearl several weeks to fully recover but when she did, she came out better than ever. Pearl was full of life and she was finally ready to find her forever home. Thankfully, it didn’t take too long for her to wait.
Pearl was flown to California where she was fostered by a truly amazing woman named Leah. Leah stated that Pearl was really easy to handle and adjusted well to being around other dogs. Although she still had trouble with her missing leg and was uncomfortable moving around, having Leah around along with other dogs encouraged her to move and play.
Pearl didn’t have to wait long to find her forever home. A veterinarian saw Pearl’s photo on the internet and decided to adopt her. Pearl couldn’t ask for a better forever home. Now, she has a loving family who can truly give her the care she needs. Here’s a video featuring Pearl’s story and how she got her second chance at happiness.
