In South Korea, local rescuers found a Golden Retriever puppy inside a trash bag. But that wasn’t the worst part. When they pulled her out of the bag, they realized that all of the poor dog’s legs were bound together. She bled profusely and they weren’t certain she would make it.
To try and save the puppy’s life, the vets conveyed an emergency surgery and amputated her four legs. It didn’t seem to be the best option at that time. But eventually, it proved to be the most desirable course of action.
The puppy, now called Chi Chi, needed time, but she recovered pretty well. She was a little abashed but she remained to be a joyful dog. She always smiled and wagged her tail because she was happy to be alive.
In no time, Chi Chi flew to the states to meet her new mom and dad Elizabeth and Richard. She had no clue she found her home but they knew right off the bat that she was their next dog. They prepped for her arrival and made sure she had everything she needed to live comfortably.
Taking care of a special-needs puppy takes lots of time, effort, and energy. It can also be expensive with all the medical needs necessary. But in spite of it all, Elizabeth and Richard did not think twice about bringing Chi Chi home. In fact, they were more than excited to have her in their lives.
Shortly after Chi Chi’s arrival, the couple saw the potential and ability that she had. They agreed that she had what it takes to be a therapy dog. And so, they had her train with a renowned dog handler and trainer in town, and she did not disappoint.
Chi Chi soon started visiting hospices, schools, colleges, nursing facilities, and hospitals, where she met a lot of people. No matter their age, she brought them joy, laughter, and hope. She became their inspiration and she was happy to be of service to them.
After all that she’d been through in life, Chi Chi proved that when you don’t give up, great things happen. She may have lost all four of her legs but she gained a wonderful life and she shared it not just with her mom and dad but with a lot more.
