Butter, a stray dog, has been called a heroic dog after he saved the Golloway family in Big Stone Gap, Virginia when a fire broke out in their home. His loud barking woke up the family and alerted them which then led to their safe escape. It also allowed the family to stop the fire before it even grew larger and made more damage.
The mom Charity Golloway first met Butter outside of their home just hanging out. But when he started spending more time nearby, she assumed he was a stray and decided to provide him with an outdoor shelter. She also put in an electric lamp for the canine for some light and warmth.
But one day while Butter was resting, something unexpected happen. The electric lamp in his shelter suddenly caught fire and he knew then that something was not right. So, he immediately ran to the family’s home straight to the window, and then he started barking loudly. His barks woke Golloway up just in time when the heat of the flames burst one of their windows.
She immediately got her two kids and ran out of the house as quickly as they can. Golloway then started extinguishing the fire and preventing it from growing even larger. A few moments later, the Valley Volunteer Firefighter Department responded and the fire finally died down. Golloway was very thankful to Butter’s quick thinking sharing that if he wasn’t there, worse things could have happened.
No words could express how really grateful the family was that Butter wandered up into their yard and called him a heroic dog for saving their lives.
After the news of Butter’s heroism broke, the Golloway family discovered that Butter wasn’t really a stray dog and that his real name was Cooper. His owner saw his picture on Facebook and contacted the Golloway family that it was actually his missing dog. Though the Golloways were sad that Butter would be leaving them, they were so happy that he will surely now be reunited with his family.
