A woman named Pia volunteers at DogRescue, a small animal shelter in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
One day, she went to visit a friend when she learned about a stray puppy in need of help after she overheard two people discussing the animal that they were unable to capture. She called her friend and asked to reschedule their plans. After that, she introduced herself to the people talking about the stray dog and asked more questions about it.
Pia went to the location where they said the dog was usually spotted and spent about 30 minutes searching for him. Eventually, she found the dog resting near a house.
The dog was in discomfort. He was badly malnourished and losing his fur due to a skin condition.
Thankfully, Pia was always willing to assist a distressed dog. She retrieved a cage from her vehicle and coaxed the dog to enter it. The dog was soon safe inside it.
Pia rushed the puppy to the veterinarian’s office for an examination. Despite her wish to take the puppy home, the veterinarian insisted that he remain in the clinic for at least three days so that his health could be monitored.
Two days later, the dog had shed two pounds. However, Pia remained optimistic despite his refusal to eat.
On his third day at the clinic, the dog began to eat. Pia named the dog Hercules since she knew he was a fierce warrior and he was willing to fight for his life.
After a few days, Hercules was strong enough to stand and walk. According to the veterinarian, he was finally ready for adoption.
Pia observed that Hercules had gained weight, and his hair had begun to regrow 10 days after she took him in as a foster pet. Hercules quickly matured into a playful dog with the assistance of his foster parent.
After a few weeks, Pia believed Hercules was finally ready to find his forever home. She also realized that she loved Hercules too much to allow him to leave, so she decided to become his forever mother.
