One woman in Charlotte, North Carolina, had the misfortune of having her car stolen—along with her dog, Ruby. The woman in question is Angel Reid, who is 22 years old. When the incident occurred, Angel moved out of the vehicle to deliver a Taco Bell order at an apartment on Millenium Avenue.
Inside the car were all her belongings and her pet baby, Ruby. She’d just moved to Charlotte a month ago from Houston, Texas, where she moved because of homelessness and joblessness.
The thief stole the car within a few seconds of Angel getting out. She immediately filed a report with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), which started the file immediately.
Angel had lost her Amazon warehouse job in Houston, so she went to Charlotte (where her mom lives) to get back on her feet.
Angel says, “My mom is old school, meaning she wanted me to go out and find work and, within 90 days, be back on my feet. So, enforcing her tough love, I was to leave my mom’s place during the day and look for a job.”
A few days after the incident, one detective in the case, Carl Albanese, showed up at her mom’s house with good news. They’d found Ruby. A little scared but unharmed. A maintenance worker had seen her in one of the apartment complexes.
The CMPD posted a video on Facebook showing Carl and another detective returning the dog to Angel. Upon seeing each other, Ms. Reid screams in happiness and relief while her dog wags her tail in return, as seen from the video.
The video went viral online – with most people describing her joy at finding her lost pet. Ms. Reid, anxious since Ruby’s disappearance and fervently prayed for Ruby’s return, said God had answered her prayers at that moment.
