Midnight is an intelligent Labrador with a talent for noticing subtle details about her surroundings. She became the talk of the town after she helped save a woman from freezing to death. Midnight’s keen senses and her owner’s quick thinking prevented a tragedy that day.
Midnight was on a morning walk with her owner, Tim Turfman. At one point, the dog stopped and stood at attention with her ears perked up. That wasn’t something Midnight usually does, so Tim assumed the dog was trying to communicate. When Midnight walked in a certain direction, Tim knew she was trying to lead him somewhere, so he followed.
Tim arrived at his neighbor’s yard while following Midnight. After looking around, he discovered a person had collapsed in the snow. That person was Tim’s 87-year-old neighbor, Noreen. She had fallen to the ground while attempting to fill a bird feeder.
The woman was almost completely covered in snow. It seemed like she had been outside for at least half an hour. Of course, Tim wasted no time and immediately picked the woman up.
Tim successfully assisted his neighbor in returning home. Tim’s wife also came by to help Noreen dry her clothes. They didn’t leave her side until they were sure she was safe and sleeping comfortably.
What Midnight did that day was unbelievable and worthy of praise. The local news reported the incident, and the dog got the recognition she deserved. If Midnight were not there to alert her owner of the emergency, the reporters would have been telling a different story.
Tim cannot overstate how proud he is of Midnight. He understood that not all dogs could do what his dog did. In fact, Midnight’s recent achievement makes her qualified to become a service dog. However, for now, Tim wants Midnight to remain a regular house pet.
